2016: Our Best Bits

By December 20, 2016Stories

2016 has been a fantastic year for us all at KC Communications. We celebrated our second birthday, we were nominated for some fantastic awards and even got three new additions to the team!

So to round off the year, we thought we’d take a look back at our best bits of 2016!

Huddersfield Town Partnership

We kicked 2016 off pretty well when we became official partners of Huddersfield Town Football Club. We became the title sponsors of the Wagner Revolution Season Card campaign for the year and not only has this partnership enabled us to form some great working relationships, we’ve also been able to bag ourselves seats at their games!

Eaton Smith Business of the Month

We were coming up to our second year in business when in February we were announced as the winners of Eaton Smith Business of the Month.

Kate Booth, Partner at Eaton Smith and member of the judging panel said “We were impressed that Katrina has recognised the benefit of using outside sources to improve efficiency within her business and establish a good business model that should stand her in good stead for the future.”

Our award has pride of place in the KC office and it is certainly something we were all incredibly proud of. But it doesn’t stop there… as a Business of the Month winner, we have automatically been put forward for the Eaton Smith Business of the Year 2016/17! Our fingers and toes are firmly crossed!!

A Growing Team

Due to our growing client base we have welcomed three new staff members to the KC team over 2016.

Sarah, our Account Manager joined us in June, Jess our Marketing Apprentice in September and Megan, our Marketing Account Executive shortly after in November.

The KC office is a lively and friendly place (with plenty of tea & cake!) and the new additions have settled in really well!

KC Turned Two

July saw us hit our second year of business and what better way to celebrate than with an office party! Our birthday coincided nicely with our office relocation (bigger team meant a bigger office too) so we threw a dual celebration and looked back on the achievements we had reached since our first birthday.

Shortlisted for CIM Northern Awards

We spend our time ensuring our clients are put forward for relevant awards and recognised for their work within their sector but this October we were delighted to be shortlisted within our sector at the CIM Northern Awards.

KC were shortlisted for “Small Agency of the Year” whilst Managing Director, Karina Cliffe was put forward for “Consultant/Freelancer of the Year”. In its third year, CIM Northern Awards celebrates and recognises the talent and success across the northern marketing industry and although on the night, we did not win, it was a fantastic achievement for the KC team and a lovely awards evening.

Town Foundation Ladies Lunch

We teamed up with the Town Foundation to sponsor their Annual Ladies Lunch. So, on the 25th November the KC team, along with 160 ladies, glammed up and attended the fabulous Ladies Lunch, held at the John Smiths Stadium.

The Ladies Lunch aims to raise money to support the Town Foundation in improving the quality of life for young people across Huddersfield and the West Yorkshire area through a variety of activities, namely its hugely successful ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Clubs.

On the day, fantastic entertainment was provided in the form of the internationally knows, Globe Girls who performed their way through the afternoon in sequinned numbers accompanied by humorous gags! The food, entertainment and atmosphere made for a great afternoon but most importantly helped raise an impressive £3,000 for the Town Foundation!

We were more than proud to be sponsoring such an amazing event that helped raise money for such a fantastic and worth-while cause.

Overall, 2016 has been an incredibly successful year and we have loved every minute of it. We look forward to what 2017 may bring and we hope to see you all in the New Year!
