My First Week at KC Communications

By September 5, 2016Stories

My first week in my marketing apprenticeship with KC Communications has been such an eye opener into the world of work. I am so happy to have left school life behind and taken my next step.

The interview process, although daunting, was a really good experience. The process helped me grow in confidence and my training provider, Estio Training helped me so much with preparation and guidance. The interview with KC Communications was undertaken by its Managing Director, Katrina Cliffe who made me really comfortable and I came out feeling successful, which I was later to find out I was.

During my first week, the team at KC Communications have been nothing but nice, friendly and helpful. The whole team are approachable and I know that I can go to them when I need advice or support. I love being part of this hard working team and I look forward to making my mark. I therefore just want to say a huge thank you for making my start an easy and enjoyable one!

I’m absolutely loving the hands on experience that an apprenticeship has to offer, it’s how I learn best and I feel like I have learned so much already! I have been introduced to a variety of different software packages that I hadn’t even come across before including their Zoho CRM system, LinkedIn, Trello, Project Bubble, Hootsuite, Canva and I’ve only been here four days!

Being in an office environment benefits me so much as it gives me the chance to develop certain skills. For example, I can now professionally take and transfer incoming calls, which I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do if I was just doing a college course. So in my opinion, I’m getting a head start by learning the basics of an office environment, compared to a classroom. I’ve also made a start on drafting up images and content for social media posts, undertaking research and supporting the team with general administration tasks.

No matter who asks, I would always say the same. Apprenticeships are such a good route to take after completing your GCSE’s or A Levels. I would advise anyone to do it. In fact, after telling my friends about my first week in an apprenticeship, a lot of them seem interested in this career path as well!

After only a week here, I am sure that a career in marketing is definitely the route I wish to take. I’m enjoying every minute of it and still can’t believe I got chosen out of all of the excellent candidates! I’m hoping my future in a marketing career looks bright, all thanks to my apprenticeship!
