As a five-strong force of females who are passionate about the industry, KC Communications is an agency sought out by many like-minded ladies. Since inception, we have been lucky enough to work with many inspirational women in business.

And as it’s International Women’s Day, we felt compelled to showcase the wonderful women we have the pleasure of working with over the years!

Debbie Heald MBE

Managing Director – Heald Ltd

Debbie is the Managing Director of Heald Ltd; a manufacturing company specialising in hostile vehicle mitigation systems. Debbie’s strong business acumen and ability to spot gaps in the market has led to a variety of successes over the years. Since KC Communications started working with Heald back in 2015, their year-on-year turnover growth increased by an average of 35%, with the current financial year expected to top 60%. International export sales have also increased from 70% to 90%.

In recognition of the services Heald provides, Heald was awarded the Progressive SME Award at the Manufacturer MX Awards in November 2018 and named in the Sunday Times Maserati 100 List identifying the ‘Best British Innovators’.

In addition to this, Debbie has recently been included in the Top 20 of The Manufacturer’s Top 100 in Manufacturing, earning the accolade of ‘Exemplar’. The crowning success, however, was receiving an MBE for services to women in STEM and export.

Alex Poole

Director – the iNNiTi effect

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, it has always been Alex’s dream to run her own business. the iNNiTi effect helps organisations address key challenges and barriers that may be preventing their growth and productivity. She’s passionate about delivering sustainable change for the future, whilst achieving £million bottom-line savings.

An expert in her field, Alex is an accredited Chartered Manager and a member of both the Chartered Management Institute and the Lean Competency System. And If that wasn’t impressive enough, Alex has also recognised with a ‘Women in Leadership’ scholarship from the University of Hull MBA programme.

Carolyn Atkinson

Director – Sheards Accountancy

A key figure in the local Kirklees business community, Carolyn is dedicated and enthusiastic about her work to help Sheards’ clients maximise their potential.

After studying at the University of Huddersfield, she began working for Sheards Accountancy in 1985, and rose through the ranks to her current role as Director.

Carolyn was President of the Huddersfield & District Society of Chartered Accountants in 2017/2018 and is only the second lady president to be appointed since the society began.

Alongside the day-to-day support of businesses in Huddersfield and beyond with their accountancy needs and providing valuable business advice, Carolyn has supported many charitable organisations over the years through her role at Sheards. Most recently, she helped to raise almost £15,000 for local charity, Kirkwood Hospice.

Natasha McCreesh

Busines Coach & Leadership Mentor – PiP to Grow Strong

Natasha walked away from a 20-year corporate career with no other plan than to do something that brings her joy. Four year later, Natasha has done just that, coaching and mentoring organisational leaders and their teams to get the most out of their life and work.

Since going solo, Natasha has worked with organisations – from owner-managed businesses to blue-chip organisations – to deliver positive change, including KC Communications!

She is also passionate about working with those less fortunate; Natasha is currently involved with a community in Liberia to develop self-sustaining, local economic growth projects and the construction of a school.

Sara Presley

Owner – Manor House Lindley

Manor House Lindley was once a derelict Georgian mansion, until Sara (left on photo) saw its potential and transformed it into the prestigious boutique hotel and restaurant we see today.

Opened in April 2018, the Manor House has already picked up some coveted awards – including ‘Best Hotel Interior’ at the Northern Design Awards and a five-star rating from the AA, plus a raft of glowing restaurant reviews from local and national critics alike.

Sara’s faith in the development of Manor House has not only put Lindley on the map, it has created over 50 jobs in the local community and provided Huddersfield with a hotel we can be proud of!

Sam Watt & Poppy Stähelin

Directors – Huddersfield Live

Alongside an action-packed schedule of community events, Sam and Poppy are responsible for organising the biggest and most popular occasion in the Huddersfield calendar – the Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival.

This event attracts over 150,000 people to St George’s Square every year -an unbelievable feat of organisation and achievement for not-for-profit Huddersfield Live’s team of two! More recently, they have added the Huddersfield Winter Festival to their roster of activities, helping to attract more visitors to the town centre.

We truly are inspired by Sam and Poppy’s devotion and commitment to the local community and its businesses.

Nicola Berry

Head of Sales – Black Cat Fireworks

Showing real commitment and dedication to Black Cat Fireworks, Nicola entered the business straight from university 16 years ago as an account co-ordinator, working her way up to her current role as head of sales.

Given the seasonal nature of the business, the months leading up to Bonfire Night demand a lot of hard work and long hours from Nicola and her team. Her busy and varied schedule sees her taking responsibility for many functions, such as operations and logistics planning, product sourcing and marketing. However, that doesn’t mean its feet up the rest of the year. Post Bonfire Night they’re already planning for the following year!

Nicola has been with Black Cat through times of significant change, and has played a pivotal part in turning the company into the streamlined, efficient and profitable business it is today.

Females from all over the world are leading the way for inspiring the next generation. With more women starting their own businesses and securing roles on leadership boards than ever before, we really are a force to be reckoned with!

The KC team is delighted to have the opportunity to work with these inspirational women, and we’re always looking to make connections with more! Get in touch to discover how we can work together for mutual growth.
