Marketing and PR agency KC Communications has been joined by other Huddersfield based businesses to offer one local start-up the chance to win a fully comprehensive 12-month pro bono business support package.

Businesses also offering their services include Natasha McCreesh of PiP to Grow Strong, a business coaching and mentoring consultant who will offer her “Start Strong” coaching package worth £5,000.

Local business recovery specialists Poppleton and Appleby will offer a business risk analysis with a feedback session and two quarterly review meetings worth £1,500 in value.

Sheards Accountants will also offer their services in the form of a two-hour start-up session to offer accounting advice and complimentary places on Connection19 events throughout the year.

KC Communications originally started the competition to offer 12-months’ pro bono marketing and PR support worth £15,000 to a Huddersfield start-up as a way of supporting the local business community and by encouraging new businesses to stay in the town. The package also includes hot-desking opportunities at the KC Communications office and the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre.

KC Communications founder Katrina Cliffe commented: “It is fantastic to see that other local businesses are on board and willing to offer free-of-charge services to support start-up businesses in the Huddersfield area. We are committed to working together to create a strong business community in the town by enabling start-ups to get the support that they need locally, rather than having to head to Leeds or Manchester.”

Charles Brook, partner at Poppleton and Appleby, commented: “Getting a successful business up and running is complex. A financial review will help you to highlight any future peaks and troughs in trading where finances may be stressed an enable you to manage your cash flow. We are delighted to partner with KC Communications in this start-up competition to offer financial business advice to the winner.”

The competition is open to new businesses registered with a HD postcode that has been operational less than three years with a turnover less than £250k per annum. Applications can be made on the KC Communications website by heading to www.kccomms.co.uk/start-up-comp or by emailing kirstie@kccomms.co.uk. The application deadline is Thursday 14th February.
