On Friday 16th October, Managing Director Katrina Cliffe was a mentor to 100 budding and established female entrepreneurs.
The Superfast West Yorkshire event was an introduction to a 6-month support package available to registered ladies within business. Katrina was involved in a ‘Meet the Mentor’s Panel at the Google Digital Garage, where female entrepreneurs had the opportunity to ask about a variety of business subjects.
Women and Broadband is focussed on supporting female entrepreneurship in West Yorkshire with the Ladies that Launch project aiming to develop and enhance businesswomen’s knowledge and digital skills. The event featured expert insight from Google ‘Gurus’ and Superfast West Yorkshire trainer Pascal Fintoni. The event was a fantastic opportunity for women to network and the chance to meet a variety of different women at varying stages of their careers.
Katrina was asked an array of business questions including, “How did you decide what salary to give yourself?” Katrina commented, “You need to make sure you do some research on what others in your field are charging, researching the market is key! I’ve been incredibly lucky to have achieved my salary aim in the first 12months of business, and that is set to continue this next year. Ensure you consider that when you take holidays, you are not getting paid, it’s essential you have a buffer!”
Other inspiring mentors that joined Katrina on the panel included: Carolyn Pearson of Maiden Voyage, Janet Bebb of Social Progress, Saeeda Ahmed of Education Partnership and Anj Handa of People Help People.
Marketing Executive Grace also came along to the event to gain an insight into women in business and also managed our social media on the day.
