I have been at KC Communications for almost 2 months now and dare I say it… I am beginning to feel like I know what I am doing!
I have come from a large agency background, and have spent the last 6 years working solely on the Asda account. So, moving to an office with only 5 other employees, but many more clients under their belt has been a big step change!
Added to that, it has been a very busy few months which has included an office move, (a 5 minute drive from my home!), 2 new recruits (me being one!) and taking on board some brand new clients (lovely ones, at that!)
My position here as an Account Manager is refreshing, as I am working on new clients as well as getting involved in the day to day management of the team and business.
A key role of mine is creating marketing and communication proposals for prospective clients. The planning stages of the role are very exciting as I am getting to know the ins and outs of each business and finding out what their objectives are.
We really do feel like part of the clients’ team, as we get to know as much as we can in order to truly immerse ourselves and achieve results. I am enjoying educating new clients on the benefits of social media, PR and engaging content.
I’m also really enjoying building up my professional network in the Huddersfield area. I’ve attended some interesting networking events and just last week attended the Eaton Smith Business of the Year Awards that KC Communications were shortlisted for. The early morning start was helped by a fry up breakfast and some fab conversations around the table.
As a mum of two young boys, I was struggling to find a flexible employer when I was coming to the end of my maternity leave. I thought that turning my back on the big agency world in Leeds and looking for something which provided better work-life balance such as being closer to home and still being something I am passionate about would be very difficult.
Katrina made the leap from an established agency to a younger one such an easy decision and really understands work life balance… as long as the job gets done! I am certainly not missing my M62 commute and I am thoroughly enjoying working with such a fantastic, motivated and talented team. I’m looking forward to seeing how the business develops in the next 12 months and how we can continue to help our clients thrive.
