Welcome to our ‘Meet the Team’ feature, where we give you a chance to meet the people behind the business! Up next, Heidi Hawkins…

Name: Heidi Hawkins

Job title: Account Executive

What’s your origin story?

I finished my placement year in the Communications department with the NHS before returning to complete my Business Management degree in 2017, now in the know that I wanted a career in marketing.

I started my first graduate role in the Architectural sector two days after graduating and had the opportunity to work on some great projects, including the University’s Oastler building which recently featured on Huddersfield’s official Monopoly board.

Before joining KC, I spent a great year working in the in-house marketing department at a leading energy-efficiency firm, before taking the next step in my career and joining an agency environment.

How long have you been at KC Communications?

I started with the team on January 21st, so about two months now!

What attracted you to this role?

I first came across KC Communications in my final year. I came for an interview for a similar role and loved the feel of KC straight away, but at that point I still had my dissertation to complete. Katrina was open with the fact that they wanted someone who could hit the ground running with no other commitments.

Looking back, I’m grateful for Katrina’s advice – I was able to give my all to my final year, get a first and focus on passing my driving test! When I saw a role had come up nearly two years later and knowing I wanted to move to an agency, I was really keen to apply for the role.

If you could change one thing about KC Communications, what would it be?

I hate to be so predictable, but it would be the stairs!

What important milestones do you have coming up in your life?

Buying our first house. We’re still saving at the minute, but hopefully it won’t be too much longer.

If you were handed £1.5 million today, what would you do with it?

Well, I’d probably buy that house! I’d also adopt as many cats, dogs and cows as would fit in the mansion I now have.

What is the strangest talent you have?

I can train my brain to remember big chunks of information! I went to a performing arts school until I was about 13 and competed in recital competitions. This saw me relay poems and stories across four sides of A4 from memory.

What do you love about your job?

The variety, particularly in my role supporting all of our Account Managers. I actually have the opportunity to work with all of our clients and get to know them.

What TV show/movie/song closely represents your life at the moment?

Not exactly, but the idea behind 13 going on 30. I think about stuff all the time like still having a student overdraft to pay and not having a mortgage yet, but I need to remember to be patient and that we’ll get there eventually.

Do you currently have, or did you have, any nicknames?

Pudding. I’m the baby of my family so it’s stuck, not to mention the fact I was nearly a 10lb baby.

What is your go-to drink when at a pub/bar?

Fruity cider or beer. I really enjoy a pitcher of Pimm’s if it’s nice and sunny.

What personal accomplishment are you secretly really proud of?

Finishing uni with a first despite missing the first six months of my final year due to a broken leg and missing teeth!

What is your proudest moment at KC (so far)?

My lovely colleagues tell me I should be proud of my networking skills – particularly at Kirklees Business Conference earlier this month.

If you could have any company as a client, who would it be?

Pets at Home. I’d get to dress dogs up in sparkly collars and woolly jackets for pictures all day, wouldn’t I?

If you could close your eyes and transport yourself anywhere, where would you go?

Miami. We went last year and it was incredible. We’d definitely get a car this time though, and also take the day trip to The Bahamas that we couldn’t squeeze in last time. Or Mexico, I could live on Mexican food for the rest of my life!
