Welcome to our ‘Meet the Team’ feature, where we give you a chance to meet the people behind the business! Up next, Hollie Thornton…
Name: Hollie Thornton
Job title: Junior Account Executive
What’s your origin story?
I recently graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a BA (Hons) degree in Photography. I always knew that photography wouldn’t be a career for me from the start, but I class it more as a hobby now.
During my University experience, and for a short while after, I became a supervisor behind a bar at a local golf club, as well as serving behind the bar. I got myself involved in looking after the club’s social media, including writing content and sources images by putting my degree to good use!
I later decided the late nights and weekends were no longer for me. I wanted structure and a routine in my life so I started job hunting, baring in mind that I liked the marketing side of my current role. Within a couple of months, I found this role, and it seemed too good to be true. It was something I was interested in, and it was a role that suited graduates, it was like it was made for me.
How long have you been at KC Communications?
I started on the 14th of October 2019.
What attracted you to this role?
The main thing that attracted me to this role was that it was suitable for someone with a keen interest in marketing but with little experience necessary. I knew after the first interview that it was the role for me. I knew that Katrina, Laura and the rest of the team would be supportive through my apprenticeship; which they are.
If you could change one thing about KC Communications, what would it be?
I’m sure everyone else will agree, the stairs!
What important milestones do you have coming up in your life?
At the moment, I am just focused on being settled in my new job, getting my head down and doing myself and everyone else proud. Within the next year, I would like to start saving for a mortgage.
If you were handed £1.5 million today, what would you do with it?
Straight away, I’d buy a house! I’d much rather have a cute little cottage in the countryside.
What is the strangest talent you have?
I’d say the only talent I have is that I pretty much know films word for word after I’ve watched them a few times, especially The Grinch! (I can imagine I’m quite annoying to watch films with).
What do you love about your job?
The fact that in my role, it’s so varied – I get to support everyone on my team; therefore, I get to work with many different clients in different sectors.
What TV show/movie/song closely represents your life at the moment?
I’m not entirely sure which movie represents me or my life well. If there’s a film out there which consists of sleep and work, then that’s it.
Do you currently have, or did you have, any nicknames?
Within my family, I’m named ‘Chops’. This is down to being a huge baby and chubby cheeks.
What is your go-to drink when at a pub/bar?
I love a good gin and tonic! (Sometimes a pint).
What personal accomplishment are you secretly really proud of?
Completing my university degree, as well as working my way up to a supervisory role in my previous position.
What is your proudest moment at KC (so far)?
My proudest moment at KC so far is completing my four-week objectives.
If you could have any company as a client, who would it be?
If I were to choose any client, it would 100% be a well-known high street fashion brand, such as Boohoo or ASOS.
If you could close your eyes and transport yourself anywhere, where would you go?
New York at Christmas time.
