Job title: Account Manager
What’s your origin story?
I graduated with a BA in politics from Manchester Met, but I didn’t want to go into public life. I then moved to Huddersfield and started working as an Administration Manager for a furniture company. After that I moved into account management at a local tech company where I did the in-house marketing. I loved doing this. I also did a Professional Diploma in direct and digital marketing at the IDM. Then I saw this job come up and I always said that if anything came up at KC Comms I’d apply so here I am.
How long have you been at KC Communications?
Since 1st October
What attracted you to this role?
I think mainly it was the opportunity to work for a Huddersfield-based marketing agency. I was aware of KC through various networking events, so I knew quite a bit about them. From what I did know, I loved how community focused the business seemed.
If you could change one thing about KC Communications, what would it be?
What important milestones do you have coming up in your life?
I’ve just had them all! I got married, came back from my honeymoon in Canada, and came right into a new job in the space of three weeks. So I’m currently taking a break from any milestones and trying to get back to normality.
If you were handed £1.5 million today, what would you do with it?
Move to a new house to get away from my crazy neighbours. I’d probably move out to the countryside, and use the rest to travel. I’ve got a few bucket list places in mind, like Australia, New Zealand, and Patagonia.
What is the strangest talent you have?
It’s not really a ‘talent,’ but I am a super lucky person. I always win raffles. I just tend to be lucky for some reason, which is good because my husband always has really bad luck so between us we just about balance each other out.
What do you love about your job?
I find it interesting and it’s never boring. The days fly by in a good way. I’m still learning new things all the time as well which is what I like.
What TV show/movie/song closely represents your life at the moment?
The Haunting of Hill House. It’s terrifying. No, I’m kidding. My life seems really boring; I go to work, go to gym, then to bed. I have to say, though, that it is nice to be back into a routine.
Do you currently have, or did you have, any nicknames?
‘Foxy,’ because I’m ginger. When I was little, I got called custard because my nan made up this rhyme:
Hot as yellow mustard.
What is your go-to drink when at a pub/bar?
White wine. Preferably Sauvignon Blanc.
What personal accomplishment are you secretly really proud of?
The summer I started running again I got my 5k and 10k times down by quite a lot.
What is your proudest moment at KC (so far)?
Good press coverage I got for ConnectChina in such a short space of time. I literally had three days to turn that around, but somehow managed it.
If you could have any company as a client, who would it be?
ASOS, so I could ask for discount… I should probably have said something more charitable, thinking about it.
If you could close your eyes and transport yourself anywhere, where would you go?
Lake District. I’ve been to a lot of places in England and abroad, but nothing beats it. And you probably won’t get eaten by bears like in Canada.
