Welcome to our ‘Meet the Team’ feature, where we give you a chance to meet the people behind the business! So now is the time to discover more about our Operations and Talent Manager, Lana Eardley…

Name: Lana Eardley

Job title: Operations and Talent Manager

Lana Eardley

What’s your origin story?

I am currently a final year Travel and Tourism student at the University of Huddersfield at the moment, specialising in safety and risk of aircraft – a little different to the position yes! But, before this role, I have worked as an office manager for a travel company and for a large hotel, therefore administration and finance are sort of in my blood!

How long have you been at KC Communications?

I started on 21st October so I’m a newbie.

What attracted you to this role?

As soon as I saw the role and I looked into KC Communications, I loved the female empowerment. The fact that they had won the Workplace Wellbeing award really told me that it was a place that looks after their staff. I love managing office operations such as wages, HR functions and all the tasks no one usually wants to do (maybe that makes me weird). It fits around my university perfectly and the flexibility is great.

If you could change one thing about KC Communications, what would it be?

Can we have an office puppy? Then I think it really would be a dream.

What important milestones do you have coming up in your life?

At the moment I am looking forward to graduation in July 2020!

If you were handed £1.5 million today, what would you do with it?

I would buy my family a house, and I would invest in a couple of rental properties back in Stoke on Trent where I’m from so I’d always have an income. Before any of that though, I’d book a flight to New York and go to see Dear Evan Hansen, front row on Broadway.

What is the strangest talent you have?

I have a squeaky eye and can play tunes with it.

What do you love about your job?

I love the team, they’re all a lovely bunch. It’s great to be able to manage myself and the tasks I need to do are pretty routine, which I like. It makes me feel very organised.

What TV show/movie/song closely represents your life at the moment?

Air Crash Investigation – I’m writing my dissertation on airworthiness directives and decisions made after crashes.

Do you currently have, or did you have, any nicknames?

It’s really hard to create a nickname out of Lana. My mum sometimes calls me ‘Larn’.

What is your go-to drink when at a pub/bar?

I will literally drink anything other than beer. My favourite at the moment is blood orange gin and Mediterranean tonic!

What personal accomplishment are you secretly really proud of?

I was awarded the best performance for both years of my degree at Staffordshire University before I transferred to Huddersfield and was sent lovely certificates from the Dean. Here’s hoping I can match it for my final year!

What is your proudest moment at KC (so far)?

Hitting the ground running with managing the purchase ledger.

If you could have any company as a client, who would it be?

If we had Ben & Jerrys as a client, I definitely wouldn’t complain…

If you could close your eyes and transport yourself anywhere, where would you go?

I would go to Malaysia to try to solve the mystery of missing flight MH370. Then I could hop on over to New Zealand without having the mammoth journey!
