Welcome to our ‘Meet the Team’ feature, where we give you a chance to meet the people behind the business! Up next, Megan Booth…

Name: Megan Booth

Job title: Junior Account Manager

What’s your origin story?

Throughout school and sixth form, I never really knew what I wanted to do as a career. I played with the idea of going into law, HR and marketing. When I left school, I decided to study subjects that I enjoyed the most and that would leave as many doors open for me in the future. I chose English, History and Religious Studies. I decided to continue studying History at university and I absolutely loved it.

Once I graduated, I went to work in a temporary HR role at a manufacturing company. However, after a few months, a PR and communications role became available at the company. I decided to go for it because I wanted a more creative role and I really missed writing. I worked in this role for nearly two years, before moving to KC Communications this March.

How long have you been at KC Communications?

I joined the company on 10th March 2020.

What attracted you to this role?

Everything. I thought that the company and the role sounded perfect. It seemed a really great fit. I liked the look of KC’s clients, the culture seemed great and the team sounded like a lovely bunch too. It was a no brainer to make the move.

If you could change one thing about KC Communications, what would it be?

I’m going to have to back Lana on this one… An office puppy! Although, I think it’s unlikely.

What important milestones do you have coming up in your life?

This November I will have owned my own home for two years. Flying the nest at only 22 is something I’m really proud of.

If you were handed £1.5 million today, what would you do with it?

That’s a hard question! I’d definitely take me and my partner on an amazing holiday to Italy. We’d love to visit the Amalfi coast. I’d also like to treat my family. My mum’s an absolute diamond and she deserves to be spoilt.

What is the strangest talent you have?

I can hold a pencil/pen under my bottom lip – yes, it seems easy, but go ahead a try it! It’s much harder than it sounds.

What do you love about your job?

No two days are the same – I love the variety! I’m also very results-driven. There’s no better feeling than getting great coverage for your clients.

What TV show/movie/song closely represents your life at the moment?

Confessions of a shopaholic. I like to treat myself… it’s something I’m working on.

Do you currently have, or did you have, any nicknames?

Some try to call me Meg/Megs – I’m not keen.

What is your go-to drink when at a pub/bar?

Dry New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Although, I enjoy a nice glass of red at home.

What personal accomplishment are you secretly really proud of?

I got a 1:1 in every single assignment I submitted in the third year of university. I also got an upper first for my dissertation, which won the best dissertation in modern history.

What is your proudest moment at KC (so far)?

I’m proud of settling in the company while working remotely. It’s been difficult but I think I’ve done a good job so far. I’m really looking forward to getting back in the office and life getting back to normal.

If you could have any company as a client, who would it be?

I’d love to work with the RSPCA. I just think they’re absolutely great.

If you could close your eyes and transport yourself anywhere, where would you go?

Edinburgh. It’s my all-time favourite place ever. I love everything about it… the castle, the history, the food, the cosy, old pubs. I try to visit a couple of times every year – it would be nice to skip the long drive up!
