I have to admit that before I came here, I had no experience in Marketing. Although a week can only give you a very basic understanding, I have now witnessed the hard work put in by the KC team to make this business a success!
Although I am the youngest and probably most inexperienced student to have done work experience here, the team has still kept me very involved and let me carry out some very interesting, hands-on tasks. These include:
- Research into recent Social media stories and updates and then writing up a Social Shoutout for the KC Communications website – watch out for it later today!
- Researching relevant news stories and competitors across websites and social platforms for new clients they have recently had come on board.
- Finding out all about Awareness Days and drafting some tweets to go along with these for clients. Who knew there was an ‘International Pillow Fight Day’?!
All of the above tasks have been very interesting, however, learning about websites and SEO was the most fascinating. Before my placement, if you would have asked me what SEO was and why it is important, I wouldn’t have had a clue! But having done research into this and speaking to the team, I now know it stands for Search Engine Optimization and it’s important because it helps your website get to one of the top positions on search engines because let’s face it who goes past the first page on google?
The general experience of just working in an office has been good, as on my other week of work experience I was at a gym and was standing up all the time. It was great to get an experience in two contrasting environments of work and seeing how things run in a busy office. I was even invited into the Team Meeting to witness all the things the team talk about, including upcoming projects and new client wins.
Overall the team have made my time here very enjoyable. Before I started this week, I was afraid it was going to be awkward, but they have been so welcoming and have made sure I really understood each task. They haven’t made me feel nervous about asking questions and always made me feel comfortable throughout the day. There’s never a dull moment in agency life!
Thank you for having me KC Communications
